23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David:
“‘Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
26 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord
and against his anointed one.[B] ’[C]
27 Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Rejected, Yet Chosen
Text: Acts 4:23-31 |
The Stone That Was Rejected
Rejection is one of the most painful experiences in life. It wounds the heart, leaves scars, and
often makes people feel like they are not good enough. But the beautiful truth of Scripture is this:
God often chooses the ones that men reject.
Rejected, Yet Strengthened
When Peter and John were released from prison, they went straight to their fellow believers and
shared what had happened. The reaction of the church was not fear, but prayer.
Acts 4:24 says, “When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.”
Instead of being discouraged, they turned to God in prayer. The enemy wants you to believe that
rejection is the end, but God wants you to see it as a setup for greater power.
Rejected, Yet God’s Plan Prevails
Acts 4:27-28 says, “Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the
people of Israel to conspire against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed. They did what
Your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.”
Jesus was rejected, but that rejection fulfilled God’s perfect plan. Likewise, the rejection you
have faced is not a mistake. God is working behind the scenes.
2
Rejected, Yet Empowered
Acts 4:31 says, “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they
were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
Rejection did not weaken them, it empowered them! When the world tries to break you, God fills
you with even greater power.
Rejected, Yet Chosen
- Let rejection drive you to prayer, not despair.
- Trust that God’s plan will always prevail, no matter what.
- Believe that rejection is often the gateway to greater empowerment.
The world may overlook you. People may doubt you. But God has already chosen you. And
when God chooses you, no rejection can stop His purpose.
