In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with[A] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with[B] the Holy Spirit.”
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Slide 2: Introduction
“Have you ever wondered what happens when God decides it’s time for a new chapter in His kingdom plan? The disciples in Acts 1 stood on the brink of such a moment. They were at the threshold of a new season, where the old had passed, and something new was about to begin.
I believe we are standing on the same threshold today—on the edge of revival, on the edge of God’s mission being poured out in fresh ways. This is not just a call to those who have been in ministry for years, but a call to all of us, to each heart that is ready. The time for God’s move is now, and revival will begin when we say, ‘Let it begin now.’”
Slide 3: Connecting Historical Accounts of Revival
“I want to share a powerful story with you that connects the lives of two giants in the faith: John Wesley and Billy Graham.
In the 18th century, John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, spent countless hours praying for revival in a small room in his childhood home, the Old Rectory in Epworth. His knees wore the floorboards as he cried out to God. His passionate prayers sparked the Great Awakening, a spiritual revival that transformed England.
Fast forward centuries later, and Billy Graham, one of the greatest evangelists of our time, visited that same room. He knelt where Wesley had prayed and whispered, ‘Lord, do it again. Do it again in my time.’ And God did. Billy Graham went on to lead millions to Christ, carrying the torch of revival around the world.
What does this story teach us? It challenges us to ask: Are we seeking God with the same passion? Are we praying with that same intensity and commitment?
Let’s pray: ‘Lord, do it again. Let revival begin with us!’”
Slide 4: Point 1 – Revival Begins with a Fresh Encounter with Jesus
Scripture: Acts 1:1-3
“Before the disciples could receive their mission from Jesus, they needed to first encounter Him personally. The scripture says that after His resurrection, Jesus presented Himself alive to them, giving them many proofs and speaking to them about the Kingdom of God.
Revival begins when we encounter the risen Christ. Before we go and do for God, we must first encounter Him afresh. This is what happened to John Wesley at Aldersgate in 1738. Wesley had been preaching for years, but at Aldersgate, he truly understood salvation by faith and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit. His life was forever changed, and the fire of revival spread throughout England.
Insight: Revival starts within. We cannot share a fire that we do not carry. Without a personal revelation of Jesus, our efforts will be shallow and short-lived.
Action Point: This week, I encourage you to set aside time to meditate on the words and works of Jesus. Spend time in His presence, seeking intimacy and a fresh encounter with Him.
Prayer: ‘Lord, open our eyes to see You afresh. May we encounter the resurrected Christ in a new and personal way. Ignite our hearts with Your love and power.’”
Slide 5: Point 2 – Revival Requires the Power of the Holy Spirit 2:38
Scripture: Acts 1:4-5, 8
“Jesus instructed the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received the promise of the Holy Spirit. He told them, ‘You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.’
Revival cannot be achieved through human strength or effort alone. We need the Holy Spirit’s power to accomplish God’s mission. The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts, empowers, and transforms lives. Without Him, our preaching, our missions, and our ministries are in vain.
Quote: Billy Graham often said, “The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts, converts, and empowers.” Without the Holy Spirit, there is no revival, no transformation.
Insight: The Holy Spirit is not just a helper; He is the engine of revival. He empowers us to do what we cannot do in our own strength.
Action Point: Make room in your life for the Holy Spirit. Seek His presence daily. Ask for fresh empowerment. Allow the Holy Spirit to move through you.
Prayer: ‘Holy Spirit, come afresh upon us. Empower us for the assignment ahead. Let Your fire fall now!’”
Slide 6: Point 3 – Revival Demands Obedience to God’s Commission
Scripture: Acts 1:6-8
“When the disciples asked Jesus about restoring the kingdom to Israel, He redirected them to focus on the mission ahead: Go and make disciples of all nations. Revival is not just about personal renewal; it’s about aligning ourselves with God’s kingdom agenda.
Revival requires surrender surrendering our personal desires and aligning ourselves with God’s purposes. John Wesley obeyed God’s call to preach, even when it was difficult. He went to the streets, to the fields, and to the poor, carrying the gospel wherever he could.
Insight: Revival will not come to the passive. It comes to those who say, ‘Yes, Lord, use me.’
Action Point: Identify one specific way you can act on God’s call this week. Whether it’s sharing the Gospel with a friend, serving in your community, or praying for the lost, take action and surrender to God’s will.
Prayer: ‘Father, align my heart with Your mission. Let my life be a channel for Your glory. Remove every distraction and fill me with a desire to obey Your call.’”
Slide 7: Point 4 – Revival is Fueled by Urgency and Readiness
Scripture: Acts 1:9-11
“As the disciples watched Jesus ascend into heaven, the angels asked them, ‘Why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.’
Revival demands urgency. The return of Jesus is imminent, and the time to act is now. We cannot delay in fulfilling the mission He has entrusted to us. Revival is not for ‘someday’; it is for today.
Billy Graham lived with a sense of urgency. Every soul mattered, and he preached as though Christ’s return could happen any moment. His tireless efforts, driven by urgency, brought millions to Christ.
Insight: We must live each day as if Jesus could return tomorrow. We must be ready, and we must act without hesitation.
Action Point: Make a commitment today to live with urgency. Share the love of Christ boldly, without delay, because time is short.
Prayer: ‘Lord, ignite a sense of urgency in my heart. Let me not delay in fulfilling Your call.’”
Slide 8: Conclusion – Let It Begin Now!
“God is calling us into a new season. Revival doesn’t begin with a conference or a large gathering—it begins with each of us. Let it begin now.
We are standing at the threshold of something new. Revival begins in our hearts, in our families, and in our communities. The time to act is now.“
Slide 9: Call to Prayer and Action
Call to Prayer and Action:
“Like the disciples, we must begin with prayer and step out in faith. Revival begins when we say, ‘Yes, Lord, let it begin now in me, in my family, and in my community.’
Let’s pray together:
‘Lord, let it begin now. Do it again in our generation. Use us for Your glory!’”
Closing Prayer: “Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word that has spoken to us today. Thank You for reminding us that revival begins with a fresh encounter with Jesus, the power of the Holy Spirit, and our obedience to Your commission. Lord, we pray that You would stir in our hearts a deep passion for Your kingdom and a readiness to act according to Your will.
Help us to not wait for tomorrow, but to begin today right now to be a part of the revival You are bringing into this world.
May Your Holy Spirit empower each one of us to live boldly and faithfully for Your glory. We pray that as we leave this place, we would carry the fire of revival wherever we go.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”
Offertory Prayer:
“Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for all the blessings You have given us. We thank You for Your provision, Your love, and Your grace. As we bring our tithes and offerings before You today, we pray that You will use them for the furthering of Your Kingdom. May these gifts reflect our love for You and our commitment to the work of revival. Bless these offerings and the hands that give them. May they be multiplied and used to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Benediction: “May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father,
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all, now and forevermore.
Go in peace, go in power, go in the name of Jesus. Let revival begin now in your hearts and lives. Amen.”
