Notes from former members (Visitor’s Note)

Jonas Alexis (Former Member)
"I was honored and blessed to be a member of CEM for over ten years, and there is a truly family at church. People at CEM are amazing and generous."

Elisha.G.Prince (Frequent visitor)
The best place to be on a Sunday morning for worship. A place of happiness and love. A place where the word of God is preached with understanding. As a visiting member, my experience worshipping here has been refreshing. I'll recommend CEM to everyone, most especially my fellow foreigners residing or visiting Korea.

Donald K. (Former Member)
CEM was truly "Manna from Heaven" during my journey through the wilderness. I was trying to outrun the Pharaoh who had ensnared me to a life of hardship and exploitation. I was depressed and in a dark place. CEM really did part the Red Sea and directed me to the Promise Land. I owe so much to CEM's ministry for getting me through the darkest of times. They are able to do these great works because they are authentic Christians who reflect Christ love in everything they do. If you want to experience Christ's unconditional love on earth, then I can think of no better place to start than CEM.

Reshard & Jeana (Former Member)
My wife and I enjoyed our time at CEM. The love of God in everyone is so welcoming, the praise and worship is awesome, and the preaching is timely. Cell group after the service helped us to bond together in unity as we fellowship and pray for one another.
Everything was so good that after we departed Korea, we continue to support the Bible Reading Ministry online to stay connected to our Christian family at CEM

SERVANTS
Meet PJ (no, not Pajamas)—short for Pastor Joe.
From his high school years, PJ has faithfully served English worship in his home church, dreaming of cultivating a spiritually rich English ministry within the Korean church. Having lived in Shanghai, Kansas, and Indiana, he brings an international perspective shaped by global and Korean-American church experiences. Never one to remain in nostalgia, he consistently experiments with new worship formats every season. When he first arrived, PJ picked up his guitar alone to form the praise team, which later grew into today’s full band, Nuevos. He also planted and established small groups and Bible studies, transforming a once-scattered congregation into a true community (cf. Hebrews 10:25). Though always initiating something new, one thing remains unchanged in him: the gospel. A graduate of Chongshin University, PJ is a reformed preacher devoted to expository preaching, diligently studying Scripture in its original language to convey God’s Word faithfully—truth in text, fresh in application. Above all, PJ leads with love—joyfully, warmly, and sincerely. As Scripture says, “the greatest of these is love.” If you’re looking to grow in the Word and walk alongside a loving shepherd, join us at CEM with PJ.
Rev. Yaqub Kashif (M.Div., Th.M.)
with a heart for cross-cultural missions, biblical teaching, and international ministry. Serving in the CEM English Department at Choongjung Church.
Full Introduction
I am an ordained minister with a passion for the Word of God and a calling to serve across cultures. From a young age, I sensed God’s hand leading me into ministry, and over the years, He has faithfully shaped my journey through study, missions, and pastoral care.
I hold a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and a Master of Theology (Th.M.) from internationally recognized institutions. My ministry experience spans several years and includes preaching, teaching, and discipling in diverse church settings. I have had the privilege of serving in Korean churches, caring for international congregations, and contributing to cross-cultural ministry and community building.
God has also allowed me to participate in various mission trips, where I’ve shared the gospel, equipped believers, and supported outreach and revival efforts. These experiences continue to fuel my desire to see the Church united beyond borders.
Currently, I serve in the CEM English Department at Choongjung Church, supporting English-speaking worship and cross-cultural ministry. My heart is committed to biblical teaching, spiritual renewal, and raising the next generation of Christian leaders for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom.
Meet Elder Paul Jeong—though he doesn’t insist on being called “Elder,” but lives out the title.
Elder Jeong has been serving LIFE CEM longer than any of the current pastors, laying the foundation of this ministry with unwavering faithfulness. His steady and diligent service may well be rooted in his near-decade of ministry experience in India—where not only did he serve the local church, but also collected a lifetime supply of hilarious stories, all seasoned with the aroma of curry, naan, and unbeatable humor.
While the word “elder” might bring to mind someone stern with arms crossed, observing from a distance and giving instructions, Elder Jeong is the opposite—leading our Korean Bible study with both sleeves rolled up. Pastor Joe even says, “Serving alongside Elder Jeong is such a joy and blessing—I hope more people come to see just how special he is.” Genuine, faithful, and delightfully funny, Elder Jeong is a spiritual pillar and a must-meet character of LIFE CEM. If you stop by, make sure to have a chat with him—you won’t regret it.
